STORY

TENUTA CASUCCI HAS WITNESSED CENTURIES UNFOLD.

There are whispers of Roman artefacts, tales of a Medieval nunnery - even a wartime chestnut flour explosion.  Dating from the 12th Century, the house served as a hunting lodge for a Count of Lombardy and, in later years, the Lambruschini family.

In 2007, Simon Turner embarked on a journey to revive this historic estate. The house was carefully restored into a beautiful home for family and friends to gather. Vines have been rooted in this land for generations, and the old parcels of Sangiovese, planted in the 1950s, held great promise. Lovingly nurtured back to rude health, these mature vines now form the soul of our single-varietal Sangiovese, Saregio.

WINE ESTATE

With Italian expertise and an international perspective, Tenuta Casucci has undergone years of significant investment. A state-of-the-art winery stands among the six hectares of the estate that are dedicated to vineyards. Alongside our Casavecchia vineyard, the Casucci vineyard was established in 2016 and is home to our Cabernet Franc, Perlavetta. Le Vaglie was planted in 2022, with Sorgente to follow in 2027. Each vineyard has its own unique character, dedicated to the varietal best suited to it, allowing its distinctive qualities to fully express themselves during the winemaking process.

“I fell in love with Casucci one rain-drenched day 17 years ago. Even in the downpour, I knew it was special. Since then, we’ve relished the journey of creating wonderful wine. We’ve learnt tons, laughed a lot, made mistakes and learnt more! We continue that journey, but with each vendemmia, we get closer. I’m so proud of what we are doing, but, for me, it’s more than that. Tenuta Casucci is an ancient place; storied. Our wine is part of that now - it is both a celebration and an encapsulation of that story.”

STRATEGY

Simon Turner and Justin Abbott share a deeply felt ambition for Tenuta Casucci, the team, and its wines. Their diverse and successful careers have prepared them well for this journey, providing them with an analytical approach and a thirst for knowledge that is both metaphorical and literal for our wines. Old friends from Oxford University with long-standing connections to Italy enjoy a close collaboration aided by mutual respect, with a healthy dose of good humour and patience.

PHILOSOPHY

Expertly guided by our renowned Head Winemaker Cecilia Leoneschi, we strive to capture the true essence of Tenuta Casucci. A low-impact approach lies at the heart of what we do, preserving the unique expression of our terroir and the full potential of each varietal. Excellence, we believe, lives in nuance. Every action is carried out with meticulous care; every detail receives our utmost attention. We honour the traditions of Tuscan winemaking while embracing innovation where it genuinely enhances our craft. Production remains naturally limited, ensuring uniform ripening and consistent expression across every vine. Each bottle stands as a testament to our land.

HERITAGE

Tenuta Casucci is not only rooted in history, but its heritage is strongly connected to the local community. Our estate continues to play an essential part in the lives of those around us, such as hosting the annual hunters' lunch - a true celebration of Tuscan culture. We cherish our role as stewards of the land, treating the environment with respect and preserving its natural beauty for future generations.
